Guatemala Project Tour - January, 2012

The group size for this trip will be 4 - 12 people. Trip highlights include:

  • Attend dedication of Phase 5 construction at the John Wesley School in Santa Cruz del Quiché
  • Participate in our annual Christmas Milk Program in Lemoa
  • Assist with scholarship registration in rural villages
  • Tour Pura Vida projects in the area (widows' homes, pastors' homes, chicken coops, stoves)
  • Take time off to enjoy the sights in Antigua

Schedule (January 8 - 15, 2012)
Sunday Jan. 8

- AM: Fly to Guatemala City
- PM: Drive to Antigua
- PM: Check into Centro Luterano

Monday Jan. 9

8:00 AM: Drive to Chichicastenango (~4 hours)
- PM: Check into Hotel
Santo Tomas
- PM: Visit projects in Paquixic (scholarships, pastors home, weaving)

Tuesday Jan. 10

09:00 AM: Attend John Wesley School phase 5 dedication ceremony (Santa Cruz)
12:30 PM: Celebration lunch with John Wesley School staff and Pura Vida program leaders (Chichicastenango)

Wednesday Jan. 11

09:00 AM: Biannual updates and photos (Lemoa)
- AM: Visit orphanage (Lemoa)
12:30 PM:
Birthday lunch for Sister Helen (Lemoa)
- PM: Milk distribution (Lemoa)

Thursday Jan. 12

8:00 AM: Free time in market (Chichicastenango)
2:00 PM: Meeting at Caserio Rosario School (Lemoa)

9:00 AM: Visit projects in Chontala (scholarships, construction, chicken coops)

- PM: Free time in Antigua

Sunday Jan. 15 - PM: Drive to Guatemala City (~1 hour)
- PM: Fly to Denver

Cost
The cost for this trip is estimated at $1,700 per person. This amount will be finalized once airfare is purchased, but it includes group airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and most meals during the trip. Here is a breakdown of what is covered:

  • Tourist-class lodging (double occupancy)
  • Most meals
  • Ground Transportation
  • Evacuation insurance
  • Guatemala City departure tax
  • Extra airfare from cities other than Denver
  • Meals in Guatemala City and Antigua
  • Single occupancy lodging
  • Suite at the hotel in Chichi
  • Guatemala City airport security fee ($3 or Q20)
  • Dinner beverages other than purified water, coffee, or tea.
