Guatemala Project Tour - January, 2011

The group size for this trip will be 4 - 12 people. Trip highlights include:
  • Attend dedication of Phase 4 construction at the John Wesley School in Santa Cruz del Quiché
  • Participate in our annual Christmas Milk Program in Lemoa
  • Assist with scholarship registration in rural villages
  • Tour Pura Vida projects in the area (widows' homes, pastors' homes, chicken coops, stoves)
  • Take time off to enjoy the sights in Antigua
Schedule (January 8 - 16, 2011)
Saturday Jan. 8 - Fly to Guatemala City
- Check into hotel
Sunday Jan. 9

- AM: Drive to Chichicastenango (~4 hours)
- AM: Check into hotel
- PM: Attend church

Monday Jan. 10

- AM: Attend John Wesley School phase 4 dedication ceremony
- PM: Lunch with John Wesley School staff
- PM: Bianual updates and photos in Santa Cruz
(10 students)

Tuesday Jan. 11

- AM: Meet with Margarita's family in Pocohil; inspect new property
- PM: Visit projects in Paquixic (scholarships, pastors home, weaving)

Wednesday Jan. 12

- AM: Bianual updates and photos in Lemoa (35 students)
- PM:
Birthday lunch for Sister Helen (Lemoa)
- PM: Milk distribution (Lemoa)

Thursday Jan. 13

- AM: Free time in Chichicastenango market
- PM: Lunch with Pura Vida program leaders (Chichicastenango)
- PM: Visit projects in Chontala (scholarships, construction)

Friday Jan. 14 - AM: Attend John Wesley School student inauguration
- PM: Free time
Saturday Jan. 15

- AM: Drive to Antigua (~3 hours)
- AM: Check into hotel
- PM: Free time in Antigua

Sunday Jan. 16 - Drive to Guatemala City (~1 hour)
- Fly to Denver
If you would like to extend your trip in Guatemala to see the sights, please let us know so we can book your airfare accordingly.

Cost
The ground cost for this trip is estimated at $1,600 per person. This amount will be finalized once airfare is purchased, but it includes group airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and most meals during the trip. Here is a breakdown of what is covered:

  • Tourist-class lodging (double occupancy)
  • Most meals
  • Ground Transportation
  • Evacuation insurance
  • Guatemala City departure tax
  • Extra airfare from cities other than Denver
  • Meals in Guatemala City and Antigua
  • Single occupancy lodging
  • Guatemala City airport security fee ($3.00 or Q20)
  • Dinner beverages other than purified water, coffee, or tea.
