Guatemala Project Tour - October, 2010

The group size for this trip will be 4 - 12 people. Trip highlights include:
  • Attend graduation ceremonies at the John Wesley School in Santa Cruz del Quiché
  • Help interview 100 new applicants for the Pura Vida scholarship program
  • Tour Pura Vida projects in the area (widows' homes, pastors' homes, chicken coops, stoves)
  • Experience "All Saints Day" festivities in Chichicastenango
  • See the festival of kites in San Juan Sacatepequez
  • Take time off to enjoy the sights in Antigua
Schedule (October 26 - November 2, 2010)
Tuesday Oct. 26 - Fly to Guatemala City
- Check into hotel
Wednesday Oct. 27

- AM: Drive to Chichicastenango (~4 hours)
- AM: Check into hotel in Chichicastenango
- PM: Visit projects in Paquixic (scholarships, pastors home, weaving)

Thursday Oct. 28

- AM: Attend kindergarten graduation ceremony at the John Wesley School
- PM: Attend primary school graduation ceremony at the John Wesley School

Friday Oct. 29

- AM: Attend 9th grade graduation ceremony at the John Wesley School
- PM: Interview scholarship applicants in Lemoa

Saturday Oct. 30

- AM: Interview scholarship applicants in Lemoa
- PM: Visit Maryknoll Sisters, orphanage in Lemoa

Sunday Oct. 31 - AM: Free time in Chichicastenango market
- PM: All Saints Day festivities in Chichicastenango
Monday Nov. 1

- AM: Drive to San Juan Sacatepequez (~4 hours)
- AM: Attend kite festival
- PM: Drive to Antigua (~1 hour)
- PM: Check into hotel
- PM: Free time in Antigua

Tuesday Nov. 2 - Drive to Guatemala City
- Fly to Denver
If you would like to extend your trip in Guatemala to see the sights, please let us know so we can book your airfare accordingly.

Cost
The ground cost for this trip is estimated at $1,600 per person. This amount will be finalized once airfare is purchased, but it includes group airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and most meals during the trip. Here is a breakdown of what is covered:

  • Tourist-class lodging (double occupancy)

  • Single occupancy lodging
  • Guatemala City airport security fee ($3.00 or Q20)
  • Dinner beverages other than purified water, coffee, or tea.
