Guatemala Project Tour - January, 2009

The group size for this trip will be 6 - 8 people. Participants will be able to:
  • Assist with scholarship registration in rural villages
  • Inspect Phase II construction at the John Wesley School in Santa Cruz del Quiché
  • Participate in our annual Christmas Milk Program in Lemoa
  • Tour other Pura Vida projects in the area (widows' homes, pastors' homes, chicken coops, stoves)
  • Celebrate New Years in Guatemala
  • Take time off to enjoy the sights in Lake Atitlan and Antigua
Schedule (December 27, 2008 - January 3, 2009)
Saturday Dec. 27 - Fly to Guatemala
- Check into lodging in Guatemala City
Sunday Dec. 28

- AM: Drive to Chichicastenango (~4 hours)
- PM: Visit market in Chichicastenango

Monday Dec. 29

- AM: Visit projects in Santa Cruz (John Wesley School, scholarships)
- PM: Visit projects in Lemoa (orphanage, scholarships, Maryknoll Sisters, adobe homes)

Tuesday Dec. 30

- AM: Visit projects in Chontala (chicken coops, stoves)
- PM: Visit projects in Paxot (scholarships)

Wednesday Dec. 31 - AM: Distribute milk in Lemoa
- PM: Visit projects in Paquixic (pastors homes, scholarships)
- Celebrate New Years Eve in Chichicastenango
Thursday Jan. 1

- Drive to Panajachel (~3 hours)
- Boat to Santiago Atitlan
- Free time at Lake Atitlan

Friday Jan. 2 - Drive to Antigua (~4 hours)
- Check into hotel
- Free time in Antigua
Saturday Jan. 3

- Drive to Guatemala City
- Fly to Denver (morning departure)

If you would like to extend your trip in Guatemala to see the sights, please let us know so we can book your airfare accordingly.

Cost
The total cost for this trip is currently estimated at $600 per person plus airfare. This amount includes all ground transportation, tourist class lodging, and most meals during the trip. Below is the breakdown of what is covered by this amount:

  • Guatemala City departure tax
  • Round-trip airfare from Denver to Guatemala City

  • Guatemala City airport security fee ($3.00 or Q20)
  • Dinner beverages other than purified water
